Redwood Credit Union “Builds” Community Relationships

RCU Joins Rebuilding Together Effort to Improve Lives in Local Community

Santa Rosa , CA – A team of Redwood Credit Union (RCU) employees dug in to assist volunteers from Rebuilding Together of Santa Rosa to improve the quality of a house owned by Maria, a local single mother – and RCU Member – who has been busy with do-it-yourself renovations since she purchased the house in October 2008. Eight Credit Union volunteers and their families arrived early the morning of Saturday, April 25, to install new double-paned windows, courtesy of Friedman Brothers. In addition to carpentry work on the inside of the house, volunteers worked side-by-side with Maria on her garden by weeding, pruning and mulching the yard that surrounds the house.

“Redwood Credit Union is committed to serving the needs of our communities, and partnering with Rebuilding Together is a great way to focus our passion toward helping others and improving lives,” said Darrin Logasa, Senior Vice President of Support Services at RCU. “At the end of the day, we can look back and really see the difference that a few volunteers can make,” Logasa added.

RCU demonstrates their commitment to the communities they serve in a variety of ways, including volunteering, donating, leadership and free financial education. In 2008 employees and Officials volunteered more than 2,800 of their time to participate in over 200 community events benefiting a wide variety of non-profit organizations including local Volunteer Centers, the American Cancer Society, United Way and Salvation Army.
