Lucy Says, “The Advisor is In” at Redwood Credit Union

RCU Adds “Financial Advisor” Lucy to Their Family of Peanuts Statues

Santa Rosa, CA –Redwood Credit Union (RCU) has just added the sassy Lucy Van Pelt to their stable of “Peanuts on Parade” statues, honoring the work and contributions of longtime Santa Rosa resident Charles M. Schulz. The “Peanuts on Parade” program, which began in 2005, allows local businesses to sponsor statues of beloved Peanuts characters, which are then uniquely decorated and placed on permanent display around town.

While many of the participating sponsors engaged local artists to design and decorate their statues, RCU has held a design contest among its employees each year, and this year’s winning Lucy design was submitted by RCU Marketing Specialist Jon Lehre. Titled “The Advisor is In,” the statue features Lucy behind her sidewalk psychiatric stand, only this time, she’s doling out financial advice and in true credit union spirit, the 5-cent charge has been changed to “Free!” She holds a $1 bill featuring the likeness of Charlie Brown, and is offering budgeting tips for such items as a football, a kite, and even a sad little Christmas tree. A team of RCU employees volunteered their assistance with constructing and painting the statue during the “Look Out, It’s Lucy” paint-off held at the Sonoma County Fairgrounds in late May.

“Redwood Credit Union is proud to have participated in all four years of this thoughtful tribute to Charles Schulz, who made so many great contributions to our community, and brought happiness to millions with his treasured Peanuts characters,” said RCU President and CEO Brett Martinez. “We are thrilled to be able to honor Charles Schulz’s legacy through the ‘Peanuts on Parade’ program, and these statues always bring smiles to our Members and visitors, young and old,” Martinez added.

Lucy will be stationed in front of the Credit Union’s Administrative Offices at 3033 Cleveland Avenue in Santa Rosa, CA throughout the summer, and will later be moved inside the building to join RCU’s statues of Charlie Brown, Woodstock and Snoopy from previous years of the program.
