Santa Rosa, CA – Redwood Credit Union (RCU) recently partnered with Shred-It, Integrity Shred, and Goodwill Industries to host a free community Shred-A-Thon at their Administrative Offices in Santa Rosa. In its record-breaking 4th year, this community event was attended by nearly 400 people who brought more than 10 tons of sensitive documents to be shredded, and over 3,100 lbs. of eWaste to be recycled, including computers, cell phones and electronic media.
At the event, 22 people also attended a free educational seminar presented by RCU’s Assistant Vice President of Loss Prevention, Manuel Pereira, to learn tips and information about protecting sensitive information and the measures to take to avoid fraud and identity theft.

“We are passionately committed to helping our Members and communities learn how to protect their sensitive information and prevent identity theft and fraud. This annual event provides both the service and education to support these efforts,” said Anne Benjamin, RCU’s Executive Vice President and Chief Operations Officer. “One of the simplest, most effective precautions is to shred old documents, such as financial statements, canceled checks, credit card offers, and other documents containing personal information. We are pleased to offer individuals and small businesses the opportunity to safely dispose of sensitive paperwork and electronics at no cost, in addition to educating them about protecting themselves from these crimes,” Benjamin added.
