Santa Rosa, CA– As they have done for many years, Redwood Credit Union (RCU) hosted holiday food and toy drives in each branch location and the RCU Auto Services center. Benefiting agencies included Salvation Army of Santa Rosa, San Rafael, and San Francisco; the Sonoma County Volunteer Center’s Secret Santa program; Committee on the Shelterless (COTS) in Petaluma; Toys for Tots in Napa; and the San Francisco Food Bank, among others. Salvation Army reported collecting over 1,200 lbs. of food, and 1,400 toys donated on behalf of RCU, which represents only a portion of total donations collected throughout the Credit Union’s branch network.
In addition to these drives, RCU employees took a hands-on approach by volunteering as Salvation Army Bell Ringers and assisting at the Cloverdale Boys & Girls Club holiday party. The employees of RCU’s Petaluma branch forfeited their traditional staff gift exchange and instead pooled their money to purchase a new bicycle, helmet and accessories for a local teen through COTS.
“We are thrilled to support those in need in our communities, especially when non-profits are still facing the challenges of this economy,” said Robin McKenzie, Senior Vice President. “Redwood Credit Union is grateful for the participation of our Members, employees and communities who help make our giving efforts so successful every year.”
