Reporting Identity Theft

If you believe you are a victim of identity theft, we encourage you to take immediate action and contact Redwood Credit Union (RCU). Additionally, follow the following steps:

1. Contact the fraud departments at each of the three major credit bureaus listed below to request a “Fraud Alert” on your file and order free copies of your credit report.
2. Contact the the financial institution where you hold accounts or loans that have experienced fraudulent activity.
3. File a report with your local police.
4. Read “How to Survive Identity Theft” - what you need to know and do.

Credit Reporting Agencies

It's important to always be aware of the information contained in your credit report. Following are links to the three major credit-reporting agencies. These sites will give you credit reporting information and tell you how to order your own credit report. You can also order your credit report by calling the phone numbers listed after each agency, or see below for how to obtain a free credit report annually.

Obtaining Your FREE Credit Report

Californians can now get one FREE credit report a year from the three national credit bureaus, Equifax, Experian and TransUnion. Keep informed of your credit score and monitor recent changes and activity to be sure that your sensitive credit information is secure. To request your free report, visit www.annualcreditreport.com, or call (877) 322-8228.
