Redwood Credit Union (RCU) and RCU Services Group (RCUSG) are committed to giving back to the communities in which we serve. The United Way is one of the key organizations that we support each year. Donating to the United Way is a wonderful avenue for giving to local charities and organizations of your choice. This year, the Redwood Group raised over $54,600 for the United Way.
"Hands Across the County" is a county-wide clean-up day, organized by the Volunteer Center of Sonoma County. Each year, a team of staff members and Officials from the Redwood Group volunteers for this event to help make a hands-on difference in our community.
This year's "Hands Across the County" event takes place on Saturday, October 28th from 9:00am to 12:00 noon. As we have for the past few years, we will once again be assisting at Harvest for the Hungry in Santa Rosa, an organization which grows and distributes fresh produce for those in need.
Redwood Credit Union once again sponsored the Big Brothers Big Sisters (BBBS) of Sonoma County's Bowl for Kids' Sake. The success of this event allows BBBS to expand their mentoring programs to children throughout Sonoma County.
RCU participated in the Catwalk for a Cure which was held at the Wells Fargo Center for the Arts ( LBC) in Santa Rosa. The Catwalk for a Cure benefits Breast Cancer Research.
Redwood Credit Union was a proud sponsor of the 2006 Rock-n-Blues by the Lake at Stafford Lake in Novato. The proceeds from this event go to local schools to fund their much needed educational programs. Appearing this year were Jefferson Starship, Sons of Champlin the David Laflamme band and many more.

Redwood Credit Union (RCU) was a proud sponsor of Santa Rosa's 2006 tribute to Charles M. Schulz, "Summer of Woodstock," hosted by the city of Santa Rosa. Last summer 55 Charlie Brown statues adorned the streets of Santa Rosa.
This year, there were over 70 Woodstocks on display throughout the city of Santa Rosa from May-September, 2006. Thank you to Darin Chong, RCU's resident artist for designing and painting RCU's "It's a Small World(stock)".
The American Heart Association is the largest voluntary health organization working to prevent, treat and defeat heart disease, stroke and other cardiovascular diseases. To help celebrate the 2005 United Way Day Of Caring, the team from RCU was out in force at the early morning rally at Finley Park. One RCU team worked at the Healdsburg Boys and Girls club. Another team of RCU volunteers helped out at the Ukiah Community Center Food Bank painting rooms and helping bag produce, frozen food and donated items.

Youth Business Week California (YBW) is a hands-on learning experience in advanced business concepts, corporate citizenship and financial literacy that educates high school students about teamwork, leadership and the real-life business world during a week-long program. A longtime supporter of this program, RCU is a Silver sponsor and employees volunteer to help out with this program.

On Saturday, May 13, 2006, over 50 volunteers from RCU, along with friends and family, walked and ran in the Human Race in 3 counties - Sonoma, Marin and, for the first time ever, Mendocino. Overall, our walkers and runners raised over $6,000 for local non-profits, and in combination with our corporate sponsorships of all 3 races, RCU's contributions totaled over $14,000! Congratulations and thank you to everyone who walked, ran, and pledged!
Luther Burbank Rose Parade and Festival May 20thEach year the Luther Burbank Rose Parade & Festival draws more than 3,500 participants to downtown Santa Rosa with over 120 entries, including high school bands, drill teams, dance troops, non-profit groups, equestrians, clowns and of course, politicians. In addition, it takes more than 300 volunteers each year to coordinate different aspects of the parade and festival. RCU is a corporate sponsor and will participant in this event. Join us in the fun! The Butter & Eggs Day Parade and Celebration is an event held in historic Petaluma the every year in April. The parade brought 30,000 people to downtown Petaluma on Saturday, April 29th. This year Redwood Credit Union won 2nd place in the parade. Our entry, an authentic 1925 Egg Truck, borrowed from the Petaluma Historical Museum and Library, encouraged onlookers to "Build a Nest Egg with Redwood Credit Union".
RCU and the Wine Country Chapter invited employees and Members to give the gift of life by donating blood. The blood drive was held March 17th and 22nd in Santa Rosa. We had 27 units of blood donated - that's the equivalent to saving the lives of up to 81 victims of accident or illnesses. All of you who participated can feel proud that your donation will have an impact on the lives of those in serious need in Sonoma County. Thank you!
On March 6 & 7, 2006 Redwood Credit Union was a sponsor of the Schools Plus telethon helping to raise money for Sonoma County School's music, arts, and sports programs. RCU volunteers also manned the phone banks.
Schools Plus is a partnership of concerned parents, educators, individuals from our community and sponsoring companies who all come together with a shared belief that co-curricular activities are not expendable luxuries in the education of our youth. Rather, enrichment activities which help to develop qualities of leadership, teamwork, tolerance, and perseverance that are the foundation stones of civilized society.
