Here are a few recent situations in which we have been able to help Members with their unique financial struggles:
- A senior Member with a small Visa balance was too embarrassed to go into a branch or speak to us about her inability to make payments. When she finally contacted us, we were able to convert her Visa balance to a signature loan, reducing her payments to be manageable on her fixed income.
- A young man with an auto loan and his co-signer were both unable to make payments because of job changes and reduced income. He contacted us expecting that we would repossess his car; instead, we were able to extend his loan term and reduce the payments to a level he could afford.
- A Member was concerned about his loan payments after being laid off and anticipating a few weeks’ delay before receiving his unemployment checks. We were able to offer Skip-a-Pay on his loan for 2 months, as well as a budgeting worksheet so that he can better manage his newly reduced income.
- An account representative was processing payments when she noticed that a Member had a history of being approximately 2 weeks late on every loan payment. She was able to contact the Member and adjust his payment due date so that it better fit his payroll schedule and he is now able to pay on time and avoid late fees.
