Financial Education for Everyone

Mar 19, 2018

A Message from the President & CEO

Brett MartinezAs a credit union, one of RCU’s guiding principles is free financial education. That doesn’t just mean for kids, or people who have financial challenges. Financial education is for everyone. We’re committed to providing tools and resources to help you make the most of your money, regardless of how old you are or how much money you have.

Every day, we provide education to our Members. We listen to understand your financial situation, and help you find ways to save money, and to spend less—maybe by refinancing or consolidating debt. We have a financial planning team who can help you prepare for the future, for your child’s education, or for retirement. And our in-house insurance team offers education and guidance to help protect what's valuable to you.

Our Financial Wellness Center features easy-to-follow instruction on a wide range of financial topics, from budgeting to mortgage loans, as well as educational articles, podcasts and more that are relevant to every stage of life. And our online Security Center features a wide range of information about preventing fraud and identity theft.

We regularly partner with local schools and youth groups to offer educational events. In March, we celebrated our 100th “Bite of Reality” which teaches high-school students what it’s like to navigate the real-world challenges of balancing income and expenses. You can play a part in your family’s financial education, too, by talking to them about money and helping them understand the importance of saving.

RCU Members always have free access to services offered by our partners at BALANCE Financial Fitness, from budgeting workshops to credit report review and credit counseling, as well as helpful articles, webinars, and more. We pay for these services to help you achieve a better life. To learn more about BALANCE and access their services, visit balancepro.org

I encourage you to take advantage of these valuable benefits—now, and throughout your life’s journey. Never stop learning about finances. You work hard for your money. We’re here to help you make it work harder for you.

Thank you for choosing Redwood Credit Union as your trusted financial partner.
