Redwood Credit Union Offers Free Document Shredding Event in Ukiah

“Shred-a-Thon” helps community protect confidential information

Ukiah, Calif.Redwood Credit Union (RCU) is hosting a free document shredding event for the community on Saturday, September 9, 2017, from 9 a.m. to noon at their Ukiah branch located at 195 S. Orchard Ave., Ukiah. The popular Shred-a-Thon event will feature free document shredding provided by Shred-It.

“Shredding old financial documents and other confidential paperwork is one of the best measures people can take to protect themselves from identity theft,” said Kristie Strickler, RCU’s Ukiah branch manager. “We’re happy to provide this free service for the community to help people securely dispose of their sensitive documents.”

Attendees may bring up to three banker-sized boxes (15”x12”x10”) of confidential documents for shredding, such as old financial statements, canceled checks, credit card offers, and other outdated documents that contain personal information.

Monetary donations will also be accepted at the event to benefit the California Highway Patrol’s Explorer Program, which teaches young adults how to serve their community through discipline and a commitment to help others.
