At Redwood Credit Union, our mission goes beyond banking. As a not-for-profit financial cooperative, we’re here to serve the best interests of our Members, team members, and communities—through financial guidance, local nonprofit support, and a shared commitment to helping our communities thrive.
I’m proud to share that RCU ranked 22nd among the top 88 most charitable companies and organizations in the San Francisco Business Times Corporate Philanthropy Awards, alongside major Bay Area employers and global brands known for community investment, such as Salesforce, Google, Oracle, and Clorox. RCU is the highest-ranking financial institution based in the North Bay. More than an award, this recognition shows how your membership helps us give back, support local organizations, and create brighter opportunities for the communities we call home.
Last year, your participation in the credit union helped make a significant impact:
RCU contributed over $5.1 million in total community giving.
We provided more than 2,700 free financial coaching conversations with Members in our branches and online.
Our team members contributed 5,135 volunteer hours at over 300 community events.
Through grants, sponsorships, and in-kind contributions, we supported 312 community organizations.
We hosted 232 financial wellness workshops, reaching more than 9,000 people.
These results reflect the value of a cooperative: when Members choose RCU, those dollars help create opportunity, support local nonprofits, and strengthen the places we call home.
As the year draws to a close, you’ll have more ways to give back through RCU. On October 15, we’ll celebrate International Credit Union Day—recognizing the positive impact credit unions have on their communities throughout the world—and for every RCU debit and credit card purchase that day, RCU will contribute to local nonprofits supporting housing security. Beginning in November, we’ll also host holiday food and gift drives to help brighten the season for neighbors in need—watch our website for updates. And if you’re looking for an end-of-year tax donation or Giving Tuesday recipient, you can donate to the RCU Community Fund through digital banking anytime to empower our local communities through financial education, disaster relief, housing, and community wellness initiatives.
Thank you for being an RCU Member and for helping make our communities stronger. Together, we’re creating positive change across the North Bay, San Francisco, and beyond—and I’m grateful for all that you help make possible.
Best regards,
Brett Martinez President & CEO
PPP Forgiveness Application Deadline
Congress passed The Economic Aid Act which changed the deferment period from 6 months post covered period to 10 months post covered period. For example, if your covered period ended June 30, 2021, under the new guidelines the earliest your first loan payment wouldn’t be due until April 2022, and you have until then to request forgiveness. Please use the following calculation to help you identify when your forgiveness will be due:
PPP borrowers may select a covered period anywhere from 8 weeks to 24 weeks.
RCU is automatically calculating your loan due date based on a 24-week covered period, if you intend on using a shorter covered period please inform us immediately as this will impact your due date.
Your correct deadline will be reflected in your online banking account.
If all or part of your PPP loan is not forgiven, your first loan payment will be due the first of the following month after a decision is made by the SBA.
