What is an ITIN Mortgage?

RCU offers mortgages to Members with an Individual Taxpayer Identification Number (ITIN) and required employment authorization document(s). This mortgage is for non-citizen home buyers who don’t have a Social Security number but do have an ITIN and possess a valid Permanent Resident Card (Green Card), Work Authorization Card, or Work Visa.

  • RCU offers home loans for non-citizen home buyers who don’t have a Social Security Number (SSN) but do have an Individual Taxpayer Identification Number (ITIN) and possess a valid Permanent Resident Card (Green Card), Work Authorization Card, or Work Visa.

  • The minimum down payment for an ITIN mortgage loan is 20%.

    1. Applicant must currently live or work in Sonoma, Lake, Marin, Napa, Mendocino, San Francisco, Solano, or Contra Costa counties, counties, or are an existing Member of RCU.
    2. The property must be in California.
    3. Member must provide legal immigration status documentation. Work status may be verified by a valid employee authorization document (EAD) or other documentation (e.g., Green Card, Work Authorization Card, or Work Visa)
    4. Member must have a minimum credit score of 620. If credit score is not available, nontraditional credit history may be explored.
